- Lead with the outcome — reviewers want to know what will exist because they funded you.
- Prove the money matters — show the project needs the funding to happen (incrementality — next lesson).
- Build a credible budget — matched to the work, neither inflated nor unrealistically lean.
- Make outcomes measurable — specific numbers, not vague ambition.
- Submit a complete, error-free package — every required document, proofread, on time.
None of these is about eloquent prose. They're about giving the reviewer confidence that you're eligible, the project is feasible, the impact is real, and you can execute. Programs want to fund good projects — they just need applications that clearly show all four.
